Is panic controlling your life?

If you’ve ever had a panic attack then you will know the terror of your heart pounding, adrenaline rushing through your body, nausea and breathlessness that comes over you like a wave. It can make you feel trapped and completely alone, desperate for the feeling to stop.

Panic attacks can be debilitating and we can try everything to get rid of them – slow breaths, iced water, pacing – but they keep returning when we least expect it. It might even be scary reading this, wondering if thinking about the symptoms is enough to make them start.

It’s understandable, then, that we start to dread when the next one will appear and as the panic gets bigger, our lives get smaller. We may no longer enjoy the things we used to and feel alone as everyone around us seems calm and relaxed.

I use a combination of CBT, EMDR and Compassion-Focussed therapy to re-tune how your brain experiences panic. Instead of running away from the wave of anxiety, together we can work to turn and face it.
